Now, I am not a big believer in long runs that put tremendous stress on the joints or bent over 2 hr bike rides with a curved spine either. But I am a believer that Cardio has its importance.
Now whether it is from an eliptical, stationary bike, swimming, rock climbing or a good ol’ fashion sport like Basketball or Hockey – I think it’s ok.
Truthfully I like Martial Arts. Done at the right intensity level, it can be a real workout. If you put intensity into each punch, kick and have?a great low stance with perfect form – you will burn calories! This is why so many people want to get into MMA.?
MMA or Mixed Martial Arts is taking the world by storm. It is clearly a great Cardio workout. Some of the best conditioned people in the world are MMA fighters. Hands down, there is no harder way to train than an MMA athlete. Warning, not for beginners though.
I am not sure I like the smashing of the face and the brutalizing punishment of the body within the fight but the training leading up to the fight is awesome. The reason for these fighters to train so hard is – they have to outlast, out skill and out strategize their opponent. Or they will get beat – up that is!
Try a Martial Arts class and get some cardiovascular activity while achieving something great like a Blackbelt, self-discipline, co-ordination and much more.
Kia-Ya!
